5 Reasons Why I Didn't Write a "Real" Newsletter This Week
As a work-life specialist, some of the most gratifying feedback I receive is from people who tell me that they appreciate not just the practical advice, but the fact that I "practice what I preach."  Well, I do this on most days anyway.  Just don't drop by unannounced at 5pm on a weekday.... sometimes it's not pretty around here.

So, in an effort to maintain my credibility, there is no official newsletter this week.  Below are the five reasons why:

  1. I returned yesterday from a two week vacation with my family during which I enjoyed a wonderful visit with my parents and in-laws and didn't do a stitch of work with the exception of sending a few quick emails.

  2. I am easing back into life with a day that is basically unscheduled in order to have time to return phone calls and catch up on email.

  3. After an 8 hour drive yesterday, I don't have the energy to write a newsletter.  Frankly, I also don't have the energy to go to the grocery store or cook which is why my family will be eating Cheerios for dinner.

  4. Besides catching up on work, my priorities today are relaxing with the kids, playing a game of Wii Tennis with my daughter, and weaning the kids from the all-sugar diet they enjoyed at their grandparents' homes.

  5. It's hard to imagine that I could write a newsletter of much value today.  Although, now that I think about it, maybe there's a lot of value in knowing that making the choice to unwind is sometimes the best choice of all.
